Grit. Trustworthy. Transcendence .
Hello! This is Camellia (Camie) Yuan, a current Junior at UC Berkeley. I'm currently studying Cognitive Science and Data Science.
In the past, I served as the 2019 National 4H Stem Ambassador in Utah and a Utah Center for Legal Inclusion (UCLI) High School Ambassador. Additionally, I'm a Sterling Scholar (2021), US. Presidential Scholar Nominee (2021), US. Presidential Service Award Winner (Gold, 2020), the 2021-2022 Service Student Body Officer of Logan High, Logan High Royalty, US Figure Skating MIF Gold Winner, and Michael Weiss Scholar. After spending weekends at debate tournaments in high school, my partner and I became National Qualifiers in 2021. In 2022, we placed 3rd throughout the state of Utah. In middle school, I created a green team at school and our Air Pollution Project brought the National Green School Title to Mount Logan Middle School; the first one in Utah. In 2018, I joined the International Nurse League and reported the issues discovered ( https://youtu.be/VDmeHVRz5-Y). As the founder and President of Logan High Asian Student Association, I led my organization with the intent of educating the peers around us of Asian culture and heritage. During the COVID Pandemic, we were able to organize and donate over 1000 dollars worth of face masks, hand sanitizers, and other supplies throughout our community. In my freshman fall semester at Berkeley, I was able to join the Culture Committee of the Asian American Association. One of my hobbies is creating historical, short documentary films. My films were finalists at International Film Festivals such as Small Axe. In 2022, my documentary on the Salina Massacre placed second nationwide at the National History Day Competition. Along with that, my film was awarded by Aasha International Film Festival, Utah History Society, Oregon California Trail Association, Fort Douglas Military Museum, Wildcat Film Festival and competed at Washington DC in 2020. Throughout middle and high school, I composed music for the piano and the violin. The songs I composed won a spot at Mimo Milano Mobile Film Festival (Italy), Art Color Digital Cinema Internal Film Festival, MTNA and UMTA. These hobbies would later find a home at UC Berkeley; The Business Careers in Entertainment Club or BCEC. In my freshman Spring Semester, I was able to work as a Film Committee Intern, aiding projects with companies such like nectar, Crate, and Amazon Studios. At the same time, I was also working with Ditch Day Apparel; a small business dedicated to sustainable wear in making a trailer for a new clothing drop. Before my sophomore year of college, I was pleased to work with the Utah State University's Data Analyst Team in web scraping data from Glassdoor and LinkedIn to match newly graduated students with jobs that lined up with their interests. In doing so, I was able to learn Python, ROI Optimization, Object Oriented Programming, and data analysis skills. In the Fall semester of my sophomore year, I was honored to join the Music Committee in BCEC, working with companies such as Goldenvoice and Interscope. Together, we spearheaded a variety of projects including a nano-influencer marketing campaign for Goldenvoice as well gathering data and writing a 67 page report on sales and strategy for Interscope Records. Please feel free to contact me about service, figure skating, history, military, equality, K-pop, humanity, activism, or anything else! |
